Addicted

Ever get so hooked on a game you sit there for hours until you've finished what you set out to do?

I've just spent the last couple of hours playing the mission mode on Pikmin 3; trying to collect every last piece of treasure in the Tropical Forest. Finally cracked it. ＼(^o^)／

I'm a bit curious as to how some have managed to obtain a high score of 9610 though, the highest I've managed is 2800. (-｡-;

Why Didn't I Take The Day Off Work? ( ; _ ; )

Why didn't I take the day off work? ( ; _ ; ) My body clock is still shot to ribbons thanks to the New Year festivities, staying up till 1AM playing on the Wii U didn't help matters, but it was fun.

The game of the night turned out to be Pikmin 3, my sister and I relived old rivalries and played the Bingo Battle mode. The aim of the game is to match a line on your bingo card by collecting items and defeating enemies, you can also win by default if you steal your opponents flag (and by flag I mean macaroon). (^_-)

You can choose the number of Pikmin you start with, but if you want to make the game a more exciting I suggest keeping this amount to the minimum. This way you each have to build up your squad to collect the larger items and defend yourself from enemy attack. 

If things aren't going in your favour, just have your Pikmin collect a cherry and you'll earn a spin of the weapon roulette wheel. You may get to shower your foe with meteors, electrocute them (and their Pikmin), annoy them by reshuffling their bingo card, or teleport them from the battlefield altogether so they can't control their Pikmin army.

Later we discovered the mission mode has co-op multiplayer included! This is where you have certain objectives e.g collect treasure, defeat enemies; and you just need to finish in the fastest time possible. The only problem is that it's horrendously addictive thanks to the online leader boards, as soon as my wife and I got home we kept on playing till stupid 'o' clock.

Pikmin 3 multiplayer is a little difficult for newcomers as the controls take some getting used to. The more experienced player will have most likely used the Gamepad, meaning they won't be able to help with the alternative controllers (such as the Wii Remote + Nunchuck). After 2 or 3 rounds of Bingo Battle however. you should be able to get a decent game going.

Day 56 of 100 Happy Gaming Days: Pikmin 3

FINALLY managed to get my hands on a copy of Pikmin 3 this past weekend. Seriously, this has to be one of the most hard-to-find games on the Wii U. I placed an order with Amazon at the beginning of July, the stock was supposed to replenished at the beginning of August, but it was never dispatched.

When starting Pikmin 3 it's easy to see why the game is so desirable. It's easily the most beautiful looking game on Wii U with the Pikmin universe leaping from your television screen in gorgeous high-definition splendour.

This time we journey to the Pikmin world with 3 brave adventurers from planet Koppai, a fruit-mad society that's running short of grub, so they travel to the world of the Pikmin to see if they can russle up something for lunch. Upon arriving however, their ship malfunctions and our 3 explorers end being scattered across the planet. Isolated from one another they must enlist the help of the Pikmin in order to reunite and press on with their mission to restore Koppai's food supply.

There's a slight learning curve when using the gamepad to control your Pikmin, but I've now been playing for about 20 in-game days and I think I've got the hang of it. It's proven to be an invaluable device as it helps immerse you in the Pikmin universe by offering a real-time map, data log and acting as a communication device between characters.

Pikmin 3 is probably my number one game on Wii U at the moment; I've become so addicted to it this post nearly didn't materialise. It's a must have for Wii U owners, and for those that don't know whether to pick up a Wii U, give Pikmin 3 a try because you might just change your mind.
