Games on Club Nintendo Europe???

Club Nintendo Europe's Stars Catalog has been expanded with downloadable Wii U, 3DS, Virtual Console titles.

While downloadable games have been a staple on Club Nintendo US for some time, Europe has never been able to exchange stars for games. Here's some of the titles available at the time of writing...

While it's great to finally see these games added to the Stars Catalog, hopefully there will still be more exclusive items on the way such as soundtracks and other merchandise.

Noggins Week Off

After an unexpected absence I'm back and I'm looking forward to writing many more blogs, starting with this one! So what's been happening?

We've been clearing space to make way for an office/studio, and progress has been going really well, in about 2-3 months I'm hoping to have the space and the kit to start recording videos for YouTube. It's all going to be gaming related but I'm wanting to do something really different as YouTube's gaming scene is really over-saturated, I have some ideas in mind but you'll have to wait to find out. ^_^

We also looked into picking up some microphones last week with the view to starting a podcast however, the local music shop changed it's name to PMT (seriously) and won't be open again for some time. Unfortunately this was the only local shop that offers an extensive range of microphones, so we went off and bought ukulele's instead!

I'm really enjoying playing the uke; as it feels much more relaxing than the guitar. I'm currently learning to play the Last of Us theme, the theme from the Cat Returns and of course, the FUN song from Spongebob Squarepants.

There's also been some decorating going on; my wife has taken some of the Club Nintendo Hanafuda Cards and made this amazing display!

A Link Between Worlds Soundtrack

I was surprised to find the soundtrack to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds had arrived in the post yesterday. I'm playing it while I write this blog and the quality is absolutely stunning.

Since 'A Link Between Worlds' was the sequel to the phenomenal 'A Link to the Past' released back on SNES in 1992, there's delightful mixture of nostalgia balanced with entirely new music. 

The composer, Ryo Nagamatsu, mentions in the liner notes that he felt 'A Link Between Worlds' should be equally enjoyable for fans of the original SNES title; as well as those who were being introduced to the series.

Here you'll find very dark and exciting battle themes, uplifting orchestral arrangements and melodious ditties guaranteed to make you smile. ^_^

The only criticism I can make of this double CD set is the score excerpts, it would have been so much better to have a separate booklet for these rather than printing them on the back of the CD inlay.

Now I just need to find out where my Super Smash Bros. Soundtrack has got to?

Free Skull Kid Figurine?!

Nintendo sent me an email and apparently I'm eligible for a free Skull Kid figurine! ... as long as they have the stock, of course.

If you buy any New 3DS console, including the Ambassador Edition, with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, you'll be able to qualify.

If you already have the console and the game on pre-order from Nintendo's UK store; you'll receive the Skull Kid figurine at the same time or a few days after it's been delivered.

If you're planning to get the console and the game from Nintendo's UK Store, you'll need to order them before Saturday 28th February 2015.

And if you've pre-ordered the console and the game from somewhere other than Nintendo's UK store, you'll have to register everything on Club Nintendo by Saturday 28th February 2015.

Now if only I had somewhere to put this thing...

It's Been A Long Night...

                            

After yesterday's surprise addition to Club Nintendo's Stars Catalogue (which has already sold out), I thought it would be best to prepare for any more incoming goodies and get these points registered. Especially since it took ages for the points to appear on my account yesterday, most likely due to site traffic. 

By the way Nintendo; when you bring out your new system, please don't make us fill in a survey every time we register a game. （；＿；）

Hey! LISTEN!

Good news for European Club Nintendo members as we see a new item added to the Stars Catalogue; The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds soundtrack!

The double CD soundtrack is made up 89 tunes, plus 16 Milk Bar Musician pieces. Not only that, but for all you musicians out there the game's composer, Ryo Nagamatsu, has thrown in 12 score excerpts for you to play.

Club Nintendo is set to vanish for good this September. Will you be picking up this desirable soundtrack? Or will you risk saving your Star points for a future item?

It's time to start thinking about spending those Star Points you were saving; as Club Nintendo is set to be discontinued on 30th September 2015. ( ; _ ; )

Any Star Points you have left after September 30th will expire and be lost forever! Nintendo however, plans to add more goodies to the catalog over the coming months to make sure you've got plenty to spend your remaining points on.

Also; Club Nintendo is going to be replaced by a new programme, and while details on this are scarce at the moment, you'll get Flipnote Studio 3D for the 3DS for free if you sign up during the new programme's launch period. ^_^

Day 62 of 100 Happy Gaming Days: Super Smashing Soundtrack

Great news for Nintendo fans!

If you pick up Super Smash Bros on 3DS and Wii U, and then register them on Club Nintendo within a specific timeframe, Nintendo will send you a free copy of the Super Smash Bros soundtrack in the post.

It's not often that freebies appear on Club Nintendo in the UK, at least not to my knowledge, and considering this a double soundtrack I think this is a pretty sweet deal.

Day 13 of 100 Happy Gaming Days: Nintendo Playing Cards

Long before Nintendo became a video games company they manufactured playing cards, and since we had over 3000 points on Club Nintendo, we decided to choose these Premium Mario Playing Cards to see what all the fuss was about.  

The first thing you notice when you open the pack is that they're not even made of card, they're a strange reflective plastic, and the second thing you notice is the care and attention to detail that's gone into making these things. Each suit has a different image of Mario (King), Peach (Queen), Luigi (Jack), while Bowser takes his place on the Joker cards. The numbered cards and Ace cards have pictures of Mushrooms and Coins on them, and I love the way they printed the design so only part of the reflective surface is visible. I'm also glad they decided to use the Super Nintendo-era designs, rather than the more modern designs, as the bolder outlines and colours really make them stand out. 

We're thinking of taking them out of the pack and fitting them into a big frame to go up on the wall, which is going to look pretty amazing with the light reflecting from them. And since Nintendo has been the main focus of the last couple of days I'll if I can find something a little more unusual for tomorrow's blog. :)
